About Me

Ms. Karla Byrd

I'm thrilled to begin another amazing school year at Shepard Elementary. This is my third year at Shepard and with Plano ISD, but I bring over 23 years of experience in education to my role as School Counselor.

I earned my Master’s degree in School Counseling from Prairie View A&M University. I am deeply passionate about helping students discover their strengths, develop self-awareness, and strive toward their full potential. I believe every child was created to do good work, and my mission is to advocate for each one to receive the best education possible and grow into kind, capable citizens of the world.

Outside of school, I love spending quality time with my two wonderful children, Ray and Krystal, and my beautiful granddaughter, Sevyn. I also enjoy fine dining, live music, beach getaways, and cheering on my favorite sports teams.
